MANAS PROJECT

MANAS (Manushati Sudhar Shodh) is a cluster randomized controlled trial study in Primary health care settings in Goa , and VHAG Team evaluates the Patients who have been provided different kinds of treatment for Common Mental Disorders (Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Phobia etc.) using standardized and validated interviews instruments such and CISR, WHO_DAS.

This is our ongoing project, begun in May 2006 and we have now completed the first phase of this study on 15th September 2008 in which we conducted 3 reviews of outcome evaluation interviews of 1650 patients who attended Government Public Health Centres in different parts of Goa.

Currently the MANAS project is in its second phase in which the field researchers will be evaluating approximately 1000 patients who visit private clinics/ General Practitioners clinics for Common Mental Disorders (Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Phobia etc.). The 2 Months review of the second phase starts from 15th September 2008 and we plan all the 3 reviews of the second phase of the study by January 2010.  

PREDICTORS OF CORONARY HEART DISEASE (CHD) IN GOA – A LONGITUDINAL COHORT FOLLOW – UP STUDY:

The Aim of this project is to identify in general practice attendees the predictors at four years of:

  • Coronary Heart Dieases amongst general practice attendees.

In this Longitudinal cohort based study we are following up all participants four years after the baseline assessment. This approach will permit us to model risk factors for the incident cases of CHD over this time period. 

ADVOCACY

PATIENTS RIGHTS AWARENESS PROGRAM

There will be follow up patients rights publication (Health care & Rights of Patients). This work will expand on rights of patients and include all health related legislations, so as to form a handy refference manual.
  • Blueprint of Konkani PRB has been checked and approved by VHAG .
  • Marathi translation of PRB has also been finalized .
